Do you remember ‘The Nanny’? This is what the cast looks like now!
Did you watch The Nanny back in the day?
‘Mister Sheffieeeeeld!’ If we try, we can still hear the voice of the nanny named Fran. American comedy series The Nanny was extremely popular in the 90s and the copious reruns are still being watched a lot as well. The series aired between 1993 and 1999, the climax of course being Fran and Maxwell’s marriage, which viewers had been waiting for for years.
And as if that wasn’t amazing enough, mortal enemies Niles the butler and Maxwell’s business partner C.C. Babcock ended up together as well!
Fran Drescher, who flawlessly played the role of the nanny, acted in a couple of B-movies after the series ended, but she never managed to do something quite as popular as The Nanny. These days, 57-year-old Drescher is dedicated to promoting women’s health and occasionally takes on a role in a musical.
Charles Shaughnessy is now grey fox of 60 years old. After his role as the strict but sweet Maxwell Sheffield he’s had a few guest appearances in hit shows such as Law & Order, The Mentalist and Days of Our Lives. In 2007, he became the fifth Baron Shaughnessy in the United Kingdom after the death of his second cousin. He and his wife Susan have two daughters together.
Daniel Davis played the role of butler, chauffeur and professional jokester Niles. Before he gained fame as Niles, Davis played professor Moriarty in Star Trek and he’s had quite the career after The Nanny ended as well. He’s built a very successful career in theatre. He played his last film role in 2006, in The Prestige.
Lauren Lane played C.C. Babcock, Maxwell’s business partner who secretly had an enormous crush on him. Lane left a life in the spotlights after the series ended. She now works as a drama teacher at a university.
Nicholle Tom portrayed Maggie Sheffield, the oldest Sheffield kid, who transformed from a wallflower into a confident young woman with a little help from Fran. Tom has had several roles in TV shows and lent her voice to the animated Supergirl films.
Benjamin Salisbury played the role of Brighton Sheffield; middle child and only son. After the end of The Nanny, he remained mostly out of the spotlight, apart from a guest appearance in Numb3rs and a commercial for Domino’s Pizza. He graduated in TV journalism and got married in 2006.
Madeline Zima, now 29,portrayed youngest daughter Grace Sheffield, a complicated girl who regularly went into therapy throughout the series. Worth mentioning are Zima’s roles as Mia in Californication and Gretchen Berg in Heroes.
Who can forget Renée Taylor as Sylvia Fine, Fran’s extremely noisy and nosy mother? Taylor has one son and her voice can be heard in Ice Age: The Meltdown.
Ann Morgan Guilbert played grandma Yetta Rosenberg and later appeared in Happily Divorced and Modern Family. Her daughter Haillie Todd played Lizzie’s mother in Lizzie McGuire.
