Ah! With these tips and tricks you will have bright white teeth in no time
A radiant smile with white teeth – we want nothing more. Although it is normal for teeth to become slightly discolored over the years, there are several ways to keep or make your teeth beautifully white. We list the tips!
White teeth are worth their weight in gold, especially in Hollywood! Fortunately, a bright white smile is no longer reserved for the rich and famous. From eating cheese to the right shade of lipstick – just a few little things can make a big difference!
Solid foundation
White teeth start with the basics: good oral hygiene is essential. Brush your teeth at least twice a day with a fluoride-containing toothpaste (and an electric toothbrush!) and floss every night to remove plaque between your teeth, which prevents stains on your teeth. Don’t forget to brush your tongue; in fact, bacteria on your tongue can contribute to discoloration.
The right foods
Some foods and drinks can cause stains on your teeth. Try to avoid coffee, tea and red wine – these drinks contain tannins that can discolor your teeth. The same goes for sweets: sugar feeds bacteria in your mouth, which can lead to plaque. Really can’t live without coffee or wine? Drink them through a straw to minimize direct contact with your teeth.
Fortunately, there are also foods that are good for your teeth. Think apples, celery and carrots! These hard foods act as a kind of natural toothbrush. You can also devour dairy products with confidence, as calcium helps keep your teeth strong and healthy. The less dyes you ingest, the less your teeth will yellow. Bring on the rice and cauliflower!
Say cheese
Another wonder drug: cheese! The normal acidity level (pH) in your mouth is about seven. Sugars and acids lower the pH, which can damage or dissolve tooth enamel. When you eat cheese, more saliva is produced and the acidity in your mouth is neutralized – a kind of natural protection for your tooth enamel!
Whitening
There are toothpastes specifically designed to remove superficial stains. Choose a toothpaste that is mild so you don’t damage tooth enamel. Brushing your teeth every morning and every evening with a whitening variety will already brighten your teeth slightly.
Trifles
A visit to the dentist is seen by many as a pain in the ass. Yet the dentist provides a thorough cleaning that removes stubborn stains, making your teeth appear whiter. In addition, make sure you drink plenty of water. Water helps wash away food particles and bacteria, which can reduce discoloration.
And did you know you can get optically whiter teeth with the right lipstick? The power is in the undertone of the color. For example, an orange lipstick makes your teeth appear more yellow, while a cool lipstick with blue undertones does the opposite. So you see, a white smile doesn’t have to be complicated!
